In today’s class, our teacher gave a feedback on everyone’s three texture iterations and had asked us to upload the presentation pdf file on the drive which includes all the three texture’s iterations.
I had taken bamboo as my material, which has circular and linear texture and I had chosen a resort’s lobby wall as my hypothetical space.
I came up with three iterations using different materials.
Iteration I: MATERIALS USED- PUTTY, PAPER, THERMOCOL, PAINTS.
I used putty as I wanted to show the hardness that a bamboo has and also I wanted to show the circular texture that it has at the two ends by creating texture on putty. I have given a linear texture too in the background which is there in a bamboo. For the background, I have used thermocol and applied putty on it and gave a linear texture to it. I gave a colourful theme here as its designed for a resort and resorts are a happy place to be.
Iteration II: MATERIALS USED- TOOTHPICK, PAPER AND PAINTS.
I have used toothpick in my background to show the linear texture on bamboo and also again to show the hardness the bamboo has. I have also used paper for the circular texture as in this I wanted the linear texture background to stand out more. I have used brown and ochre to give a forest look as this wall is designed for forest’s resort.
Iteration III: MATERIALS USED- THERMOCOL, WOOL, GLUE GUN, PLASTIC AND PAINTS.
I used wool here because the circular texture on a bamboo is very fine and thin. I have used glue of a glue gun to give a glass texture for the background. I have used a tone of brown and ochre as I had a forest’s resort in my mind. Forests include wood, bamboo huts etc and they have this colour effect.

It was a fun learning project. I found each part of this assignment really interesting and at the same time I learned a lot too. I feel it is so important to observe nature and everything around us. Each and every specie and natural materials can inspire us in so many ways. At the same time it can be helpful too. Personally, I feel that we can play around with these textures and create amazing things. Bamboo being my material, I learned a lot about it. I gained a lot of information on it, mainly about its textures. I had chosen my materials that I would use based on bamboo’s characteristics. It was fun to make these three texture iterations too. I could imagine a wall that I have designed for real! Our teacher kept guiding us at every step which helped us a lot. I gained a lot through this project.
