IMAGING-8

Date: 25th September, 2018

In today’s imaging class, we submitted our documentation. Our teacher reviewed our documentation and gave feedback. He then introduced us to our new project which will go on till 15th week.

For today’s class, we had to take any simple sketch from our blog and give volume, shades, color to a particular object on Photoshop. Our teacher taught us individually as to what we need to do and what kind of texture should we give to the object. I had taken a wine glass sketch and I am supposed to give a texture of glass.

I discovered brush tool in a better way today. I was not able to get the proper effect in today’s class but I am working on it so that I can manage to get some what a real effect to my object.

Today was our review day. We had to get all our work we had done till this week. We presented our Who Am I 3D model and explained all the metaphors we have used. We were marked on all our work till date today. I could manage to complete all my work and presented my model in the best way I could.

I am really happy to have made a 3D model describing me as a whole along with the Who Am I essay. It required a lot of hard work and had to think a lot to get the abstract form but at the same time it was a fun task to do.

Today was our review day. We had to get our Who Am I project printed and documentation. Our teacher reviewed our Who Am I and marked us. She collected our documentation too which would be marked.

I could complete my work on time and present it. I learned a lot through project 1. I discovered a lot about myself using metaphors and was great fun to put it down. For the final layout, we also got a practice of illustrator and Photoshop as we had to create image for the project by ourselves and google pictures were restricted. Documentation is also a great way to put all our work together and describe all our work in the best way possible.

DRAWING-7

In today’s drawing class, our teacher taught us three-point perspective. It is a linear perspective in which parallel lines along the width of an object meet at two separate points on the horizon and vertical lines on the object meet at a point on the perpendicular bisect of the horizon line.

We were then asked to draw a composition using three-point perspective. It could be an imagination drawing, shapes, buildings etc. I completed my composition in the first half of the class. In the second half of the class, we were asked to use paints and fill in the composition. I used water colors to fill in my composition. By the end of the class, I could complete my three perspective drawing.

I learned three-point perspective in today’s class which was new for me as I have never tried it before. Initially it was hard for me to understand but later as I started sketching, I could get it right. Also, I am good with other medium of paints but a somewhat weak with water colors. For the next class, we are asked to complete the documentation and sketch a three point perspective drawing.

Today’s class started of with the technical drawing of the 3D model we had made. We had to convert the model into 2D with correct measurements so that we get to know our mistakes of the model which we had made using waste materials. I had used newspaper and sponge for two of my hand grips. I did technical drawing in the first half of the class and could figure out few of my mistakes.

In the second half of the class, I made my newspaper model rigid using other materials. I used MDF sheet and wires for my final model. I tried to make my model better using different materials in the workshop. I could almost complete my final model today. I still have to work a little more to make the model better.

This was the second time when I used the machines in workshop which made me confident enough to use them alone for my next assignments. Also, working with different materials made me understand the use of materials in a better manner. It was fun to work on the model of 3D hand grip. Especially, my final model gave me much satisfaction as I was not satisfied with my trial models at all.

For the next class, we are supposed to get all the models ready, i.e trial and the final one. Also, we have to work on our documentation and get it done by the coming week.

I could not make it to today’s class. I got to know from my peers that they worked on the collage on the topic we had chosen in our previous class. I have finished my collage on the topic Mumbai city.

I figured out various tools for the collage and got to know Photoshop in a better manner. For our next class, we need to get done with all the previous assignments and work on the documentation process.

In today’s studio class, I gave a final touch to my 3D model of the Who Am I project. I made my model better by adding and subtracting things as per my requirements. I gave outer shape and forms which would describe me as a whole.

Our faculty then discussed about the documentation which is required for the coming week in which we would be graded. We need to discuss about the project, add pictures and reflect upon it.

Having reached the last stage of my model, I feel really good and fascinated to see a model  which describes me as a whole. The whole process was a great fun and I learned a lot through this. I discovered metaphors describing me which I had never thought of before. It was something really different and exciting.

INTEGRATIVE SEMINAR-7

Date: 17th September, 2018

In today’s seminar class, our teacher discussed on how do we go about the documentation process. She has asked us to upload pictures, discuss about the project in brief and give reflections. Soon after that, she gave us her feedback on our Who Am I. I am asked to include my experiences which would explain the metaphor in a better manner.

We were then asked to think of the various unique titles that we could give to our Who Am I and then choose the best one. I was working on my title and tried to get the best one out which would summarize my whole Who Am I.

I could understand the documentation process better when our faculty explained. Also, feedback on the Who Am I made my work better. For the next class, we need to get our documentation and the Who Am I project ready and printed. We will be graded in our next class.

DRAWING-6

Date: 7th September, 2018

In today’s drawing class we learnt about perspective. Perspective is the art of representing three-dimensional objects on a two-dimensional surface so as to give the right impression of their height, width, depth, and position in relation to each other.

In the first half of the class, our teacher explained us one point perspective. One point perspective is a drawing method that shows how things appear to get smaller as they get further away, converging towards a single ‘vanishing point‘ on the horizon line. We had to make a composition using different shapes or alphabets. I made a composition using different shapes.

In the second half of the class, we were explained about two point perspective. Two point perspective can be named as liner perspective in which parallel lines along the width and depth of an object are represented as meeting at two separate points on the horizon. We were then asked to draw anything we want using two point perspective and I sketched a house.

Though I have sketched using one point perspective before, two point was new for me and I had never tried before. I could bring out both of my sketches really well today and I understood the meaning of perspective properly. Our assignment is to complete two more sketches using both the perspectives. In the next class, our teacher will be talking on three-point perspective.

I could not make it to today’s class as I was unwell. I got to know that people worked on their abstract grip model using different materials. I have started my first abstract model using newspapers and would be able to finish by the end of this week.

It is a bit difficult to get the proper shapes and proportion but at the same time it is real fun to work on the given task. By the next class, we are supposed to complete all the three models.
