In today’s class, our teacher taught us how to make a collage on Photoshop. We were asked to choose a topic for our collage and google pictures of the topic chosen. I took Mumbai as my topic and tried to depict various culture and daily life of Mumbai.

We were asked to create layers, use pen tool and use other tools which could help in making the collage. I did a rough collage for today and need to work more on it in order to come up with a better collage.

Today I explored better. I could create layers and understood the pen tool and move tool properly. Our assignment is to finish the collage for the next class.

1. I am snow – snow is white in color and white depicts purity. I am pure from heart  and I do not keep any hard feelings against people.

2. I am a luxury car – A luxury car requires a lot of hard work but at last, all the  hard  work is worth it. This means that I am always enthusiastic. I do my work  with a lot of enthusiasm and try to achieve the best.

3. I am a warm iron – I have a warm heart.

4. I am a golden river – I am good to people who are good to me and give my best to               them.

5. I am a key – I am a key to my own imaginations.

6. I am a stone – I don’t trust people easily even though they are very close to me. It           really takes me time to build trust on people.

7. I am a fine needle – I am very fine with my work. At last, I want my work to be                   perfect what so ever.

8. I am a melting pot – I easily melt when given love and care which is my negative               point.

9. I am an inchworm – I do my work slowly and do not like to rush up with my work             as it always gives me a negative outcome. So I take time and finish my work.

10. I am a night owl – I prefer staying awake at night usually and sleep during the day. Also, I can do better work at night.

In today’s studio class, our teacher reviewed our 3D models. She gave us feedback on our models and gave suggestions to make our models better. She had asked me to change a few models which would make my work better.

I worked on those 3D models which I was asked to change in today’s class. I thought of better ideas and worked on them. I could finally come up with my ten models which describes me the best. My teacher again reviewed them and gave suggestions as to how I could compile them all together. In the next class, we have to finish compiling our 3D models and come up with a final model which would describe us as a whole.

It is great fun to craft ourselves into a 3D model using the metaphors. At last, I am sure we would be happy to see a model which would describe us as person after all the hard work. I could explore myself better by describing myself in the seminar class and crafting them out in the studio class.

Date: 3rd September, 2018

In today’s seminar class, we were given feedback on the who am I project. We had written draft one of the who am I project earlier and then we were supposed to be writing the second draft of it. I added the metaphors which describe me in the second draft. My teacher has asked me to increase the number of words by adding incidents or adding more of description to a metaphor.

She then told us about the artist statement which we are supposed to do once we are done with our final “who am I”. We need to do it in a particular format and also, we could add a doodle or any image which would describe us with that. For that, we need to take help from our imaging faculty and come up with a picture created on Photoshop or illustrator by us.

For the next class, we have to upload our citations in a particular format, upload all ten metaphors with their descriptions and work on the artist statement.

My who am I project has actually become better by going step by step. We got enough time to make it better and improve on it. During this process, I explored myself in every possible way. I thought of all the negative and positive qualities which I possess and now I even explored the metaphors which could describe me which is something I had never thought of before. Also, working on the artist statement will help us to understand Photoshop better as we will create our own doodles and will also support the 3D models which we have made in our integrative studio class.

I am my own person; a person who makes mistakes, laughs, cries, hurts, smiles and loves.  I am someone who does not trust people easily or do not expect much. I am good to people who are good to me. Each passing moment is a new life experience for me and makes me grow into a better person I want to be.

Furthermore, Throughout my life, I have become very competitive and hardworking but at the same time, I am a person who always wants to bring a smile on  my friend’s and family’s face. I am not very open to people. Having a shy nature, I do not approach to people easily. I am an ambitious person and want to achieve the maximum.

Adding to this, I am a compassionate, considerate and a reliable person. At the same time, I take wrong decisions when I am angry which I really need to work on. I perceive the surrounding activities as possibilities of having fun and creating memories with my friends and family that would last for ages. I am always seeking for better and do the best to achieve my goal. I believe people should not be judged before one takes the time to get to know them. I love to think rather than talk. Also, I am clumsy and strange at times, but this is me.

I am a person who is hardly satisfied with the condition of the surrounding things. I can be overwhelmed with stress, having little willingness to continue trying. However, I am defined by my family and friends, who will always give a helping hand and support me.

I am a key. Key to my own imaginations. Imagination is endless. As children we are encouraged to explore our imaginations, be creative and often think outside the box. During my childhood days, my siblings and I had a playroom  and we would spend hours in there living in the creative world of  our young minds. This brings me to the world we live in now. I believe our minds and the way we feel have such a huge impact on our actions. I believe that encouraging ourselves as adults to use our imagination and find our own inner happy place is a key to the success of contented living.

Date: 31st August, 2018

We had to get flowers and leaves for today’s drawing class. In the first half of the class, we were supposed to study those flowers and leaves and draw three of each. We were then asked to give proper shading to those sketches. While we were working on this, our teacher was checking our blogs and correcting us where ever we went wrong. She told us to keep the pictures updated in the blog and also asked us not to use the terms which she has not used in class room.

In the second half of the class, we were taught cross hatching. We were told that we need to use different pencils to get the light and dark shades. Our assignment for the second half was to get the light and dark effects in flowers and leaves by the cross hatching method. We had to do one of each.

In today’s class, I learned cross hatching which I had never tried before. I could not come up with good work using that method initially but for the second sketch I could do a better one. Our teacher has asked to complete all the incomplete work for the next class.

Date: 30th August, 2018

In today’s class, we had to convert our 2D hand grips into an abstract form using different shapes or lines. We used tracing paper to do the same. We then had to color those abstract image and we were allowed to use only two colors.

Now we are supposed to convert those 2D abstract form into 3D using different materials which could be most suitable to our abstract form. For example, wire, cloth, newspapers, clay, straw etc.

This is our process work going on when we are trying out different materials and exploring them. We are supposed to convert three 2D hand grips into a 3D form.

I am really excited to come up with a 3D model and want to get it as abstract as possible exploring different materials.

Date: 24th August, 2018

I missed today’s class as I was out of station. I got to know that our teacher had taught linear drawing of the different objects.

We are now supposed to draw different objects taking the linear method and proportion into consideration with the help of different shapes.

Date: 9th August, 2018

I did not attend today’s class because of Mumbai band. I got to know that people from my section were combined with the other section as our teacher did not come. On that day, we had to design coasters and get the shapes and designs out by using different machines and tools in the workshop.

I also got to know that the managers in the workshop were really helpful and they guided and taught the use of different machines throughout.

I managed to complete my coasters by staying back in the college on a week day and I tried and figured out different machines and tools with the help of managers in the workshop.

Date: 28th August, 2018

In today’s class, we improved our assignment one and two. The first assignment was to trace a logo using pen tool. The second assignment was to get different layers of the picture and change the color using pen tool. In the first half, our teacher helped us to make our previous assignments better by guiding us.

In the second half of the class, he introduced us to the third assignment which was to create a composition of sea, breeze, light and sky in the Photoshop. It could be an abstract or a normal composition. We had to take pictures from google and work with those.

By the end of the class, we were able to finish all the three assignments. Our teacher has asked us to put all three assignments on the blog and also mail them to him.
