INTEGRATIVE STUDIO II -WEEK 2

Date: 15th January, 2019

In today’s class, our teacher showed us a French movie which was about finding happiness and imagination. The sound and the lights in the movie made a big impact on what message the movie is trying to deliver.

Our teacher then discussed all the about the movie when it got over and she has given us an assignment in which we are supposed to go around the town and click few pictures based on the Gestalt’s principles. We have to choose any one principle and get six pictures for the next class.

INTEGRATIVE SEMINAR II- WEEK 2

Date: 15th January, 2019

In today’s class we had to read chapters from the book “Invisible cities.” We read three chapters today and discussed on it. We discussed its significance and what we understood from it. Our teacher explained the chapters through different pictures which were abstract and had a deep meaning to it.

We also learned how people in the past used to write in different styles which was sort of weird. We discovered new terms and learned a lot of new things.

The class was really interesting as the discussions we had were really fruitful. For the next class we are supposed to read other chapters as an assignment.

 

TIME- WEEK 2

Date: 11th January, 2019

In today’s class, our teacher asked us to make a storyboard on the three narratives we had written on time. All three narratives are supposed to be presented on three different storyboards. Each storyboard should have 7-10 thumbnails. The size of the thumbnail should be 2.5inch each side. It could be done in an abstract and metaphorical way. It shouldn’t be too direct or too complex.

I have started my first storyboard and I am still working on it. Today’s class was fun but at the same time it required a lot of thinking and creativity to present it in a best way we could.

OBJECTS AS HISTORY- WEEK 2

Date: 11th January, 2019

In today’s class, our teacher asked us to read the essay that we had to write on the objects taught. We read the essay and then our teacher discussed on it and gave us more information about it. Each person came up with some new information which was quite interesting.

Our teacher has asked us to mail him our essays and continue reading more on these objects to grab more knowledge on them.

SUSTAINABILITY SYSTEMS- WEEK 2

Date: 10th January, 2019

In today’s class, our teacher checked our previous assignment and then asked us to think of items which can be upcycled. He has asked us to think of an object or anything we do from home to college which can be recycled or can be converted from unsustainable to sustainable. Also, we are asked to think of three objects which are of no use to us and can be upcycled. Up cycling means adding more functionality to an object of less use or no use at all. From those three ideas, we have to choose the best and make one object for the next class.

In the second half of the class, we were asked to form our own groups. Then our teacher gave us few topics on which have to research. Topics like: energy crisis, water crisis, waste etc. We have chosen water crisis. We need to research on it taking globally, nationally and locality into consideration. For now, we are supposed to do the basic research only and then in the next class we will be told what we are supposed to do exactly.

It was an interesting class and also we learned to work in group by coordinating and cooperating with eachother. It was fun to think of our own creative ideas to upcycle objects and I am excited to make one.

INTEGRATIVE STUDIO II- WEEK 1

Date: 8th January, 2019

Today’s first studio II class started with an introduction round. Then our teacher discussed about what ever we did in the last semester’s studio classes from the scratch. She asked us what we had grabbed and learned from it. We all told her about the market places we had visited and what we had discovered.

We were then asked to split into groups and prepare a skit. Each group got a word written on a piece of paper based on which we had to prepare a skit and through that, the audience should be able to guess the word. The word which we got was “Incorrigible” which means a person who can never change.

We made a skit which was about a lazy girl named Pragati and she wouldn’t listen to anyone what so ever. Her mother, teacher and her best friend was tired explaining her that she needs to change and they made all efforts to bring a change but she would only do what she wants to. I got a role of best friend to play.

Each group presented the skit in front of the Parsons faculty, our teacher and rest of the audience. No one could really guess the adjectives but were somewhere close to the words.

We had a great fun time watching everyone perform the skit. Everyone tried to make it as funny as possible and tried their best to put out the word. We learned how to coordinate and cooperate with everyone in the group through this activity.

INTEGRATIVE SEMINAR II- WEEK 1

Date: 8th January, 2019

In today’s class, we had an introduction round as it was our first class for the semester. Soon after that our teacher wrote few key words from what we had learned in the last semester. Words like Design thinking, creative thinking, imagination etc. She asked us to share about what we had learned from the previous semester and then she discussed those key words written.

We were then asked to write a page on “My Space.” It could be wherever we fine our own comfort. I wrote about my bedroom where I find peace and I can contemplate on my life away from the world. We were then asked to read it to the class and we had a discussion on that.

It was really interesting especially to listen to everyone’s comfort place. We learned a lot and it was like a sum up of whatever we did in the first semester.

IMAGING-WEEK 1

Date: 7th January, 2019

In today’s class, our teacher told us to choose a place of our choice to design a poster using photoshop and illustrator. He showed us few airline posters on the internet and told us how to go about it. It is basically to get an overview of the whole thing we did in the first semester.

We were not supposed to image trace at all and use other tools to create the whole poster like brush tool, pen tool etc. I took Greece as my place and I am working on the poster.

Our teacher asked us to come with In design software for the next class as we will start with that and finish the poster and get the final print out of it in the next class.

It was fun to work on the poster as I could go about smoothly on it because of all I learned in first semester.

 

OBJECTS AS HISTORY- WEEK 1

Date: 4th January, 2019

In today’s class, our teacher described few historical terms, art forms and objects from the past. He explained us what the subject is all about and how is it going to be.  He spoke about how history is divided according to materials. They are divided into three, Paleolithic which means old stone, Neolithic which means new stone and Chalcolithic which means copper stone.

We learned about Venus of Wilendorf, Jerico, Altamira, Malwa, Jorwe and how religion is divided into two which is folk and elite.

It was very interesting to learn about new things and the terms which I had never come across. Our assignment is to write 100 words on any object discussed today in the class.b8872038-3827-4486-aca4-1e8d3d89757b
