IMAGING-1

Date:31st July, 2018

Our imaging class started off with our teacher talking about the meaning of design and where do we actually apply it in our daily lives. Soon we were asked to get Photoshop and illustrator downloaded in our laptops and we tried figuring out those software in our laptops. After getting Photoshop installed, we worked with different tools to get started with our work.

Today I learned how to use the crop tool, cutting and pasting and the loop tool. Initially, I struggled to get these three tools right but slowly I managed to get required changes in my picture with the help of these tools. This was the first time I used Photoshop and it was great fun to work with.

Today’s integrative studio  was all about coming up with something very innovative and different. We were asked to draw five sketches each on every given topic. The topics were as follows: Something which gives us happiness; On our way to school; Image of Isdi; View outside the window; depiction of our hometown and our current mood. We were asked to draw in the squares each of 4 inch and had to use only lines and dots to depict the given topics.

The best part was we did not have to think and draw but just get ideas and come up with something different which was not concrete or precise. During this process of imagination, I tried being as creative as possible. Also, I had my thinking caps on in all possible direction. Soon, when we were all done with this imagination process, our teacher asked to form groups and try to guess what others have depicted through their sketch. Having guess other’s work was amazing and a fun task to do.

Our teacher told us that these were just basics to exercise and get our brains to function and get prepared for the future. In today’s class I learned that we do not always need to be accurate or precise to pen down our imagination because our imagination is way beyond that and this is how we would be able to transform our ideas into reality.

INTEGRATIVE SEMINAR-1

Date- 30 July,2018

Today’s class was all about how our first year is going to be. We were introduced to various key words to understand the interconnects in learning and writing which we need to keep in our mind for the next four years. Also, various type of pictures were displayed on the screen through which we had to form a story in few words. This activity helped us to exercise our thinking capability. Not only this but also we were told about how we need to keep our thinking caps on all the time.We were told that our dreams and daydreams would also show us a creative path for the coming years and we need to keep a record of them as it would be needed when the times comes. We were introduced to the blogs, documentation and a book named,”Metamorphosis” by Kafka.

The keywords which we were introduced to us are as follows: Memory, Tangible, Intangible, Anthropomorphic, Body, Connect, Reflective and Transition. Among all these keywords, a new word which I came across is “Anthropomorphic”. According to my research on this particular word, it means relating to an idea that an animal, a god or an object has feelings or characteristics like those of a human being. We were also asked to research on “Chicago Manual of Style” which would help us for reference.

I acquired much knowledge through study in today’s class. The two main things that I learned is to never stop thinking and dreaming especially in the field of designing. Also, our past studies and knowledge would surely help us some where irrespective of whatever field it belongs to. Nothing goes for a waste. Our teacher asked us to collect five pictures which relates to us for the next class. I am sure my dreams and imagination would further help me to transform my ideas into reality.
